Greetings from the vast country of India! India is geographically a huge country that could be thought of as a continent when considering land mass and population. It is home to nearly 1/7 of the world's population. India is becoming one of the leading nations in technology. The people groups are almost as ignoramus as the population itself. There are modern cities and there are tribal areas where people still live in the trees and are known as the "tree people".

Up until recently, our work in India was confined mainly to Andrah Pradesh state. However, at the beginning of 2005, we started branching out into all areas of India. We now have churches from the Punjab the North to Kochin in the South, and from Mumbai in the West to Vishakhapatnam in the East. It is exciting to see the work grow, but this growth presents some new challenges.

Please pray for India and our work among this wonderful, loving group of people.

About India

India

The ancient diamond-shaped country of India extends from the Himalayan Mountains, south into the tropical reaches of the Indian Ocean. It's the second most populous country on the planet, and certainly the most intriguing.

This diverse and fertile land, which once included the lands we now call Bangladesh and Pakistan, was plundered over time, and eventually ruled by Britain in the 19th and 20th centuries. In 1947 India declared independence and formed its own country.

With numerous major languages (hundreds of dialects), dozens and dozens of large cities and over 700,000 villages - somehow India works, both in the classic, traditional methods, and in this modern, industrialized world.

Tourism is a growing industry and luxury hotels and resorts are constantly under construction.
